The end of the Line

Leon was wearing his jeans when a smile came to his lips. It was interesting to notice that Jill remembered to pick up clean clothes to bring to the hospital. This was certainly one of the women's gifts, to think about details, but Leon could not remember anyone who had done that for him before.

It was good to feel Jill as an ordinary woman at some points, but if Leon could describe her at that time, he would certainly say that she was unique.

All women with whom Leon had been involved before had been interesting from the start, but with Jill it was different. Leon needed to unveil her gradually to find not only an interesting woman, but the most special one.

Leon knew many beautiful, agile and smart women like her, but no one had such a strong and charming personality.

Leon wanted more, he wanted to know her better, he wanted to be with her longer, he wanted to have her in his arms again. He knew that their profession would be a challenge, but in this moment he wanted to think only about all the good things that happened since he met her.

Leon put his hand on the his shirt when he heard the phone ring. He answered it promptly.

"You miss me, huh?."

"Leon. Listen to me. The meeting had to be anticipated, then you need to travel soon." Hunnigan spoke on the other side.

"Soon? Good, but by soon you mean in less than three days, maybe two, right?"

"No Leon, you need to travel before. For political issues."

"I don't care about politics. You know it."

"You don't Leon, but our government does. And I guess you care for your influence. You need to represent our country as one of Lanshiang witnesses."

"More research?"

"No. I managed to find it's just a meeting and possibly a ceremonial in honor of the victims. This is important for the relationship and you..."

"They love long rituals... Well, now that I was beginning to enjoy my holidays."

"It's just an unforeseen. But you will have your vacation rewarded if you really want it."

Leon said nothing, he just shook his head in disgust.

"Leon I'm just informing you so you will be ready, cause at any time I'll call and you must fly."

Leon knew the importance of international relations against bioterrorism. Even if he was deeply troubled by the last-minute trip, he wouldn't try to avoid it.

"I am so excited." He said huffed.

When Hunnigan hung up the phone, Leon took the shirt he had put on the bed and dressed it. It always seems that every time he was beginning to enjoy vacation, he had it interrupted for some reason.

A car was parked outside the hospital to get Leon to the airport, where Quint and Jill were waiting. He decided to argument about the trip later and rushed to the car.

When Leon arrived to the airport, Jill was waiting for him. Her smile somehow helped him recover the bad mood because of China.

"Good morning!" She said still smiling

"Good morning!" Quint said behind Jill.

"Morning" Leon replied to the two.

"How are you feeling?" Jill stepped forward towards Leon and he took her hand, ignoring Quint's presence.

"Great! I feel almost no pain. Maybe a little with the movement, but the doctor said it will pass in a few days."

Jill smiled shy and Leon realized that she looked uncomfortable, perhaps because Quint was looking at them. But still Leon did not release her hand, instead he kissed her gently.

"Thank you for concern, miss Valentine."

Quint cleared his throat trying to disguise and turned to the side of the small plane that awaited them, walking towards it."

Jill's eyes widened before Leon's behavior. Realizing the discomfort of Quint she looked at Leon and raised his hand pretending a slap.

Leon made a face of pain and played back.

"It could be unfair to attack a convalescent man."

Jill nodded grimacing and turned away from him, but Leon realized that she laughed discreetly.

The trip back went smoothly. Jill took a nap during all the time and Leon understood that she had stayed awake all night.

When they landed Jill opened her eyes. Leon realized she sighed in relieve to identify they were at the BSAA. She was certainly happy to be back.

Once they landed, Quint moved away ordering the men to bring Grant. Leon followed Quint, when Jill got in his way, making him stop.

"Wouldn't you rather go home and rest? I know that a night in the hospital is not that pleasant."

"No. I prefer to see the outcome. How could I not participate in the last moment with you? I prefer to stay behind the glass, but I would like to attend it. I think we all look forward to fully understanding on what happened."

"Yes." Jill nodded with a distant look "I don't often monitor all outcomes, but this one is different since it envolves the B.S.A.A.. And it seems that is a sad story."

"As always." Leon said.

Jill confirmed as the two followed Quint at distance.

.

.

.

"What are you saying?" Quint asked Larry Smith.

Larry Smith was James Grant's lawyer and he was sitting next to his client, placing the laptop on the table so that Quint and Jill could see it.

"Simple. You are accusing my client to blackmail Mr. Joseph Brown, but you did not realize that the responsible one for the emails and to blackmail the senator is exactly the man you consider the victim, Paul Lopez."

Jill and Quint looked at each other, but they allowed the man to continue.

"This is mr. Lopez's laptop, my client could take it in order to go to the authorities and try to prevent a tragedy from happening. You are accusing Mr. Grant, but the photos and e-mails were sent by Mr. Lopez and everything is here, you can investigate it. You have forgotten that Mr. Lopez, who was also the one with the virus, could easily become infected to try to blame my client. Grant was trying to convince Mr. Lopez to give up on his plans." Smith then stopped talking and crossed his arms.

"Interesting" Quint positioned the cellular chip on the table "But we investigated emails and messages from this and it seems that it was Lopez who tried to convince Grant to give up on his plans."

"No sir. It's the opposite. It's easy to investigate and discover that after he left the BSAA, Lopez had problems with his visa and would be forced to return to Mexico soon, where he was born, and where he would have less medical care for his mother. He had reasons to blackmail the senator, not my client, don't you agree? All this was a carefully devised plan for him to have us believe that he was the victim. It just surprises me to find out that such experienced professionals like you two fell for his plan."

Quint looked at Jill and nodded, she shook her head back and stood up, approaching the table and placing the syringe on the table. Quint motioned for her to continue.

"We found two digitals on the syringe which cointained the virus. One logically from Mr. Lopez and the other..." Jill looked at Grant "How would you explain that to me, Mr. Grant?"

"Well..." Grant seemed to hesitate "Lopez looked mad when we met and I tried to convince him to give it up, so we started arguing and when I saw that he intended to inject himself, I tried to avoid it, but I failed. I decided to run away, it would be unwise of me to stay there and wait for him to become something I can't imagine."

"I'm sorry, but some information do not proceed. The syringe was found a few meters from the house, we can not assume that Lopez had time to move away from home just to get rid of it."

"With so much evidence against Mr. Lopez, you can't use only the syringe position to say that my client is guilty and responsible for everything."

Quint looked at Jill and she gave a step foward.

"Certainly not, Mr. Smith. We can say that you are right when you say that Mr. Lopez is responsible for the emails sent to the senator. We managed to find out that he was the one who took the photos, so you did not bring anything new. But I can give you something new, Mr. Lopez's intention was not to blackmail the senator, but alert him of any plan against him and that he should be aware of the BSAA, as the danger was coming from here. Lopez unfortunately failed when for some reason he didn't make a formal complaint, which could have saved his life. But I believe he was trying to protect his mother by not giving his name since he feared any reactions from you, Mr. Grant."

"This is all nonsense." Grant said.

"Easy, I haven't finished yet." Jill said putting a flashdrive on the table "You so far failed to explain some of all our suspicions. But how would you explain that a few days before your expulsion, the cameras were able to capture your image in the laboratory, where samples analyzes are made. That day they had received some samples for evaluation and curiously Lopez didn't work all week due to the health of his mother. As you know, all samples are destroyed after being analyzed to avoid accidents, you were smart because that prevented us from analyzing your digital there, but maybe you did not know that the reports are individual. I don't know how you managed to circumvent some cameras, but we find the reports from that day and in one of the samples, there was a quantity of solvent. Therefore, Mr. Grant, although you have your gifts to circumvent the investigations or even argument about everything, against facts there are no arguments."

Grant stood up angryly.

'I did not want to infect him, Lopez was my friend." Grant said nervous "But he was obsessed with trying to prevent me from getting money from Senator Brown. Politicians are all corrupt, It would be just like refunding our money..."

"Quiet" The lawyer ordered

"That's not fair." Grant screamed.

Quint and Jill looked up in a serious way. Jill felt sorry for Lopez and her mother. Lopez tried to prevent his friend to make a mistake and ended up getting involved in a situation of no return, becoming victim of bioterrorism at the hands of his coworker and friend himself.

Jill saw Quint ask the police to lead Grant and watched Smith leave the room angry.

When she left the room, Leon was waiting for her with a smile.

"Sad result but it is good to know that everything is finally closed."

"Yes, at least for now."

"I deeply appreciate the support of you all from the BSAA. Mostly you and Quint ..."

"You don't need to, you know that it is our duty."

Leon shook his head and smiled.

"I believe you have some papers to care about now." Jill nodded before he continued "I have something to solve and I will need sometime. But I'll be back here today and we'll talk, ms. Valentine."

"That's right Mr. Kennedy." Jill smiled.

Leon winked at her and smiled before turning and walking down the hall. Jill watched him away for a second and smiled before turning to the opposite side to her room, where piles of paperwork awaited her.

.

.

.

Jill left the bathroom and turned off the light before tying the robe.

After several sleepless hours and hours doing paperwork, by looking at her bed she realized that nothing would be better than a good rest. She had to admit she was glad to finally be home.

Jill looked at the small luggage not unloaded on the floor of her room and she remembered Leon. He said he would return to the B.S.A.A. still that day, but he hadn't. Although she knew that setbacks would always happen in their profession, Jill felt somewhat sad that he had not returned or even called her.

Before more thoughts could invade her mind, she decided to change it when she heard the doorbell of her apartment ring. Probably the pizza delivery.

Jill opened the door and got the pizza, paying and thanking the boy after. When she was closing the door, a male hand prevented her from doing it. Jill then stepped back and realized Leon was stand by the door holding a bottle of wine.

He looked at the pizza in her hand and raised the bottle, smiling at Jill.

"Do you want to share?"

Jill smiled slightly in response, while inside she was jumping in joy.

What a sweet chapter showing just how much closer Jill and Leon have grown. yay  Its nice to see their case has been closed, despite its outcome, they both must feel relieved. It sucks that Hunnigan had to call and ruin Leon's mood, but work is work. And some public display of affection! :aww: X3 Emote :eeeee: Glad to see Leon isn't being shy (though I imagine he never is) about showing how he feels about Jill in front of others. You have to wonder how others such as Chris will react if/when he sees them together. hmm :hmm:

Overall a wonderful chapter, luv. That ending was perfect, just as Jill thought she'd be eating alone--Leon was a step ahead with the wine ready. lol. Good man. Leon. Can't wait to read what comes next! :D
